The 21st Century Victorian
The 21st Century Victorian is a journal chronicling our adventures buying a 130 year old Victorian/Queen Anne style 3 story home in Pennsylvania, repairing what's broken, and trying to introduce ultra-modern conveniences while keeping the character of our home. My wife and I are coming from a home in Michigan that was built during The Great Depression seemingly out of whatever was laying around. It started as one room and had more rooms added on and divided up over the decades before I owned it. Every door was a different size, every wall seemed to be differing materials (and differing amounts), and many many corners were cut, so we're pleased to be in a house now that seems to have been built with some purpose and care. There's some special issues and concerns with working on a house of this age though and I hope to illustrate that in these entries. I'll share some knowledge about how I've overcome some challenges and maybe start some discussion about some things we haven't tackled yet. If what I'm writing is useful to you and you'd like to purchase something I've used then consider supporting this blog by using our affiliate links I'll be including along the way. Thanks. Let's get started.
